Catalina has a unique array of wildlife on and around the Island. From Bison to Bald Eagles, seals to mule deer, the island is home to many animals that are not familiar to Southern California. A great way to get out and search for these Island residents is to take a paddle on an ocean kayak along the coastline. Kayakers will also have close encounters with some of the local marine life. The rocky coastline is a popular haul out spot for the seals and sea lions and playground for the local dolphin. Bald eagles make their nests all along the cliff sides, in spots only viewable from the water, and boaters will get an aerial view of the kelp forests flourishing below. |
